It’s #NationalApprenticeWeek and at Chartway Partnerships Group we’re working in partnership with @MidKent College, Maidstone to help train the next generation of construction professionals through our apprenticeship programmes
The award-wining Group, operates across the south east and has been offering Apprenticeships for a number of years, recently in construction management, business administration and quantity surveying.
Many of the Apprentices have come from MidKent College as they partner together to source applicants from the student population, who will go through a selection process before being interviewed by the companies HR team.
The college and Group support the Apprentice through their training, usually a two-year mix of practical on the job learning, and classroom study with one day a week spent at MidKent College.
During their training, each Apprentice will shadow team members, take on their own tasks and projects, with mentoring and supported by experienced line managers.
Jo Weeden, Sales & Marketing Director at Chartway Partnerships Group said “We are keen to encourage people into the construction industry, and our management team is always very supportive and want to share their knowledge.
Our vision is to develop new homes for everyone across all tenure types and working with colleges and education centres help us to support future construction professionals. Technology is constantly changing and we’re excited to help deliver training for apprenticeships to deliver homes that are low-energy and built for everyone.
Our Apprentices work on both their academic and portfolio skills whilst they are doing their Apprenticeship with us, and are encouraged to make connections with other parts of our businesses and arrange their own shadowing or introductory visits. This way they are leaning to build relationships and learning about other parts of our Group.
We hope that our Apprentices will stay with us once they’ve completed their training. We want to develop their talents, retain their enthusiasm; we welcome their new ideas and want to retain them to help with succession planning in the business.
Our experience with MidKent College has been very good and has helped us to support our Apprentices with additional help which they are able to provide. They understand what type of person we are looking for to join our team and we have had a very successful partnership so far.”
